Today I was out with my relatives for an upper-class meal. There was a Peking opera actor in the meal, and it seemed like he was a really good one.
I was poking my cellphone in the corner all the time during the meal while the uncles & aunties were talking about Peking opera with the actor. All of a sudden, a comment was laid on me: "He'd never get the beauty of this art form even if I give a performance right now!"
Although looked down upon I was, I wasn't really annoyed at the time; I don't know the man anyways. Now that I think back, I find it really interesting:
If it's the audiences' responsibility to understand an art form, that art form is probably very close to vanishing.
